　肥後熊本に、林田民子と言う女性がおりました。どこが猛婦なのかを説明します。

　明治３７年生まれの民子は、２５歳の時ピクチャーブライド（アメリカに移民した男性と写真だけでの結婚）でアメリカに渡ることになります。その渡米の船の中で講道館柔道から派遣され同じくアメリカにいく太田節三と出会い、渡航中と渡米後に柔道を習います。

　当時、排日運動の激しかったアメリカにおいて日米の友好のため、必死に働きます。しかしながら、世界情勢は日本を開戦に追い込んでいった。太田節三と林田民子等は世界平和基金財団をつくり、敗戦するであろう故国日本の今後ためにアメリカの政府に働きかける。

　かくして、日本はポツダム宣言を受け入れ、無条件降伏をします。
この年の９月２日にホワイトハウスに招待された林田民子は、時のトルーマン大統領に小さな声で・・・。
